To Cantal and Auvergne in June. Visited Thiers, Royat, Thiézac, St-Vincent, Falgou, the Roches de Macbey, the banks of the Cère, the castle ruins of Recoule and Muret. [20–23]

To Normandy. Visited Rouen, Les Andelys, Bayeux, Arromanches, Caen, Port-en-Bessin, Granville, Pontorson, and the coast. [33–34]

To Normandy. Visited Mont St-Michel for two weeks, Granville, Pontorson. [35–36, 37, 94]

Stayed at Chailly (near Barbizon) at Mère Lemoine’s, Nov. 1833 to Feb. 1834. [51–52]

Stayed four months with Lorentz at La Faucille (Ain dept.), from June/July to Oct.; went to Gex about Oct. 15, crossed into Switzerland, and turned back at the St. Bernard pass; went to Salins in early Nov.; returned to Paris at the end of Dec. [59–73]

Took a short summer trip one of these years to the château de Broglie, near the town of Broglie (in Normandy). [110–11]

Brief stay in early Sept. at la Cour de France at the inn of M. Texier. [92–95]

To Nantes in August with Charles Le Roux, stayed several days in Le Bocage, near Tiffauge (Vendée dept.); visited the marais de Lerne, the château de Souliers near Cerisaye (Cérizay, Deux-Sèvres dept.), and the château de Bressuire, east of Cerisaye. [100–102] Stayed at the château de Souliers until Dec.; before Dec. visited Les Sables d’Olonne; in Dec. went to Blois, Chambord, and Sologne, including Romorantin and Motte-Beuvron (Loir-et-Cher dept.). Moved with Dupré to Monsoult near Mafliers, at the edge of the forest of l’Isle-Adam (northeast of Paris). [123–25]

Left in June for Berry. Stayed at Le Fay at the postmaster’s (Indre dept.); visited the Creuse River, the Bousane, Montgerno falls, St-Benoist du Sault, the marshes of La Souterraine, and Gargilesse; explored Boisremond, St-Paul, Villebussière, Brachot mill; returned to Paris after Dec. 14. Left in late Apr. with Dupré for Gascogne and Sologne, via Bordeaux and Mont-de-Marsan; visited Peyrehorade and Tartas, then settled in Begars (Bégaar) and visited the gulf of Gascogne. About Sept., visited Tartas and hiked probably from Oloron (near Pau) via St-Jean-Pied-de-Port and the Pyrenees to Bayonne, then returned to Paris. [142–47]

To Isle-Adam with Dupré about Oct. They returned to Paris for a few months and stayed again at Isle-Adam in 1846. [149, 153–56]

Joined Elisa Gros at Fontaine-Ecu, just outside Besançon, in Sept.; with her and Millet, visited the Saut du Doubs, then the canton of Neufchâtel in Switzerland and the town and lake of Morat, including the château of Montfort. [255–56]

Planned to visit Frédéric Hartmann in Munster in the summer or autumn but did not go. [290–92]

To Fontaine-Ecu with his wife in Nov. [266]

To Fontaine-Ecu in early Sept. [with Alfred Hartmann] to join his wife; picked up Jules Gros and traveled to La Faucille, staying at the Forestiers’ inn; returned to Fontaine-Ecu by Oct. 17, and at some point returned to Barbizon. [274–75, 293–94]

To Arras in Artois (Picardie) with his wife, staying with Eugène Cuvelier; was there in Apr.; visited the dunes at Boulogne and Ambleteuse; returned to Arras, and to Paris in May. [311–13]
