TERRA FOUNDATION FOR AMERICAN ART
Since 1978, the Terra Foundation for American Art has been committed to engaging audiences around the globe in lively discussions on the visual arts of the United States. This publication offers an original platform for international exchange, complementing the foundation’s existing programs.
The Terra Foundation for American Art is dedicated to fostering exploration, understanding, and enjoyment of the visual arts of the United States for national and international audiences. Recognizing the importance of experiencing original works of art, the foundation provides opportunities for interaction and study, beginning with the presentation and growth of its own art collection in Chicago. To further crosscultural dialogue on American art, the foundation supports and collaborates on innovative exhibitions, research, and educational programs. Implicit in such activities is the belief that art has the potential both to distinguish cultures and to unite them.

THE UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA SCHOOL OF DESIGN
Since 2017, the School of Design—formerly the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts (2002–16)—has been located within the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Education at the University of Western Australia. The school comprises a group of disciplines including History of Art, Fine Arts, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, and Architecture. Within this context the school teaches a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, provides higher education research supervision, is actively engaged in high-profile and award-winning research and creative work, and maintains strong connections with local and international alumni, industry, and communities.
The work of the school staff and students is diverse, reflective, critically grounded, and forward-looking. Crosscultural exchange and collaborations with external institutions, scholars, and practitioners inform activity that is globally minded, regionally situated, and locally relevant. On the west coast of Australia—in one of the world’s most extraordinary biodiversity hotspots, with uniquely ancient landscapes and the living cultures of First Nations peoples—the school is strategically positioned to optimize the opportunities for education and scholarship within the Indian Ocean region.
