On behalf of my Advanta colleagues and our customers, I wish to express how honored we are to be the presenting sponsor of this groundbreaking exhibition—a retrospective of the work of Philadelphia’s own Thomas Eakins.
Thomas Eakins was a world-class artist whose Philadelphia roots and influence were woven throughout his works and his teachings. He was particularly known for his great insight into his subjects and his remarkable honesty of approach.
At Advanta we, too, strive to truly understand our customers and develop services to meet their unique needs. Advanta’s roots are also deeply connected to Philadelphia—our founder and my father, Jack Alter, began this company out of a spare bedroom in our West Philadelphia home. Today, we are one of the nation’s largest issuers of MasterCard small business credit cards.
As Advanta celebrates its 50th Anniversary, our commitment to Philadelphia continues. Over the years we have been proud to partner with the venerable Philadelphia Museum of Art, now marking its 125th Anniversary, to bring to life such outstanding exhibitions as Cezanne, Delacroix: The Late Work, and The Splendor of Eighteenth-Century Rome.
On behalf of Advanta, I extend our thanks to the outstanding professionals at the Philadelphia Museum of Art whose hard work and dedication inspire us and enrich all our perspectives.
I’d like to leave you with a thought from the great artist himself:
“The big artist . . . keeps a sharp eye on Nature & steals her tools” (Thomas Eakins).
Enjoy the show!
