Description: Hadrian’s Villa and Its Legacy
The eighteenth century was the golden age of antiquarian and artistic study at the Villa. More systematic excavations were undertaken, with more spectacular results, than at any time since Pirro Ligorio’s explorations in the mid-sixteenth century.
